For more than a decade, the summer party known as the Ossipee Valley Bluegrass Festival has charmed and thrilled music fans as they gather in Hiram, Maine. This year, the annual festival held at the Ossipee Valley Fairgrounds on South Hiram Road features some changes that reflect the growth of the festival.

Bill Johnson, who organizes the show each year with Raetha Stoddard and volunteers from throughout the area, said the acts booked this year will reflect a wider range of American roots music with an acoustic flair. In a May, 2010 interview, Johnson said the changes reflect a younger core of bands and fans who make the festival a summer stop each year.

But as the lineup evolves, festival staples such as barn dances, picking and songwriting competitions and ubiquitous jam sessions in camping areas remain. “It is G-rated. Bring the kids, camp out and share the music,” Johnson said.
